New Book
I'm excited to announce that I'm working on a new book, one that promises to be more moving and dramatic than any of my novels—because every word in this manuscript is true.

Moms-in-Waiting is the book I wanted to read but could never find during my years of struggle with infertility. There are plenty of depressing infertility books out there written by medical experts with half the alphabet after their names. Now it's time for the other side of the story to be told—the positive, uplifting side. Moms-in-Waiting will share the emotional story of my journey through infertility, along with real-life stories from women across the country and around the world.

If you’re a mom who experienced infertility, I'd love to hear your story. Please visit the Moms-in-Waiting page to find out how to share your experience, advice, and hope with all the “moms-in-waiting” who long for a child.

New Addition
Just in time for the holidays in 2003, my husband and I celebrated seventeen years together in an unforgettable way: with the birth of our first baby. Specialists told us we had less than a 15% chance of ever having a child, but against all odds, our years of heartbreak ended with a miracle one moonlit autumn night. After 12 hours of labor and lots of laughter and tears, we held our newborn daughter in our arms for the first time. Her name is Melissa, which means "honey bee." My name is now Mommy, which is the sweetest noun in the English language.

During my pregnancy and Melissa's first year, I stopped working in order to savor every minute of motherhood. After my extended maternity leave, I'm returning to the keyboard with renewed joy and excitement, eager to tackle new challenges and chase new dreams.

New Articles
Our new arrival has inspired me to branch out beyond the business beat. My articles about pregnancy, baby care, and parenting are now appearing in magazines coast to coast, including Fit Pregnancy and the popular BabyZone.com website. I also can't resist writing about the other love of my life—knitting. Watch for upcoming pieces in Interweave Knits, Yarn Market News, and my "Knitter's Tour" column in The CableGram, a Twin Cities knitting publication.

Free-Time Favorites
When I'm not reading Dr. Seuss or chasing my toddler through the falling leaves, here's what I'm loving this autumn...

In Magazines: Life & Style. This newsstand newcomer blends splashy celebrity gossip with style tips and where-to-buy advice. It's People meets Lucky at a wallet-friendly price. Instantly addictive!

In Books: I'm catching up with one of my favorite non-fiction authors this month, reading Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies and Operating Instructions.

On CD: "Stay" by Jeremy Camp. Fans of Creed and Nickelback will be pleasantly surprised by this offering from a contemporary Christian artist. Camp's music is gritty, angry, tough and tender. Favorite cut: "I Still Believe."

On DVD: "The Audrey Hepburn Collection." Click on over to Amazon and snap up this trio of Hepburn classics for just $22. Includes "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "Sabrina," and my favorite princess-in-disguise movie, "Roman Holiday" (the inspiration for my 1997 novel His Forbidden Touch).

In Knitting: I'm all about alpaca this fall. The new merino-alpaca blends feel like cashmere but cost just $6 a skein. I'll be knitting up the Backyard Leaves Scarf from Pam Allen's Scarf Style in emerald green Andean Alpaca, and a pullover in a soft peridot shade of Suri Merino.
